Teenage Years Are The Perfect Time For Orthodontic Treatment
- Orthodontic problems don’t improve with age. You can’t outgrow them and they usually become harder to treat as you age.
- It is easier to reposition teeth and jaws while they’re still growing and still malleable. Once facial growth is complete, treatment can be more difficult and costly.
- By the age of eleven to thirteen, a person has lost most of their baby teeth and most of the permanent teeth have erupted making correction of a bad bite, improper tooth spacing and poor alignment ideal.
- Increased confidence from an improved smile can have a major impact on a teenager’s self-image.
- There is also a social element to braces. When a teenager has braces, they are never alone. Their classmates and friends most likely have braces, too. Your teen may feel more comfortable undergoing treatment at the same time as their peers.
How Long Will Teenage Orthodontic Treatment Last?
Just like most things in life, each individual is different. There’s no one answer because it depends on the specific patient. However, orthodontic treatment usually lasts eighteen to twenty-four months.
