Damon Braces

If you are looking for an alternative to traditional styles, Damon braces might be a great fit. They use special “self-ligating” technology that eliminates the need for elastic ties, which can sometimes be more comfortable and efficient than traditional braces. They gently guide your teeth into place, making your experience as smooth as possible.

I just had my top braces put on last Tuesday and the whole process was amazing. It didn’t hurt at all, truly a smooth and easy process. Their sweet dog came over and sat beside me which instantly eased my nerves. And the gift bag they sent me home with was such a kind surprise. Thank you for making this such a great experience.

What can I eat with braces?

It is true that you’ll need to be a little mindful, but you can still enjoy many of your favorite foods! We generally suggest avoiding things that are very hard, sticky, or chewy (like caramel or popcorn), as they can damage your brackets. If you love things like apples or corn on the cob, just slice them into smaller, easier-to-eat pieces.

How do I keep my teeth clean?

Great oral hygiene is key to a healthy smile. We suggest rinsing with water before you brush to dislodge any food. When brushing, tilt your brush at a 45-degree angle to get around the brackets and under the wires. Flossing takes a little extra practice, but our team will make sure you feel like a pro before you leave the office.

Will it hurt?

Most patients feel a bit of soreness for a day or two after getting their braces or after an adjustment. This is perfectly normal and shows that your teeth are moving! A simple saltwater rinse or an over-the-counter pain reliever usually does the trick to help you feel better.

How long will I wear braces?

Everyone is unique, but most of our patients complete their treatment in 12 to 24 months. We will give you a clear estimate at the start, and as your smile progresses, we’ll be able to refine that timeline for you.

Are there less noticeable options?

Yes! If you would like to explore options beyond braces, you may want to look into Invisalign® aligners. They are a great choice if you want a discreet way to straighten your teeth.

We love being a part of the Wheaton community. Whether you have questions from our FAQ page or you want to see our office in person, we’d love to see you!
